Question?
Why would Omar try to get rid of one multiyear contract on an overpriced, over-the-hill second baseman in Luis Castillo to then turn around and sign an overpriced, overrated free agent catcher in Benji Molina to a multiyear contract?
If he has learned nothing from the Castillo mess he should be fired right on the spot. Period.

Answer:
Because he´s Omar.

Good interview with Billy Beane (who was traded by the Mets for Tim Teufel). Beane and Theo always sound intelligent in interviews, as opposed to some other GMs we know.

The only other free agents among the eight they are likely to contact are Fernando Tatis and Ramon Martinez, both favorites of manager Jerry Manuel.
If they re-sign Ramon Martinez I´m done with them.

I would be in favor of signing Benji for a year deal with an option for a 2nd year. That would give Thole another full year or two to develop at Buffalo.

Are there any Geeks on here who work for a Big Bank or have worked for one? (JPMorgan, Citi, etc..) I recently got an offer for a job from one, but I’m a bit confused by it. I’d love to get someone’s perspective on it.

Hey Lunk,
Do you think I can pick your brain for some very basic PC configuration questions? My best friend is buying a set-up for his wife and I am the designated “computer expert” in the family. But I find PC’s kind of confusing.
Doesn’t have to be over the weekend, of course, and I don’t think that I’d have more than 10 minutes of questions.

We CAN’t have Castillo AND Delgado kicking balls around on the right side for the Mets this year.
If we bring back one it is IMPERATIVE that they get a vacuum at the other spot.
And that may mean not using Murphy at 1st, we may have to have Nick Johnson on board.
Imagine the days when Delgado or Garko or whomever we get to share first plays with Luis- we woiuld need to bring Francoeur in to fill the whole and let Beltran patrol 2 outfield positions.

Why not, he would fit right in with the rest of the Mets (minus DW, who prolly really was injured).

Has anyone heard if Omar has talked to the Marlins about Josh Johnson?
I know it was been written that the Mets should go this route already.
I heartily agree. A few highly touted minor leaguers for this guy and his relatively affordable next couple of years would be sweet. Signing Lackey would cost us in the draft as well as in the wallet. Johnson is younger and better..
