Personally, I wouldn’t name my dogs after metsgeek posters. As much as I like Shea and Mookie, I just would confuse people if I talk about my dogs on here.

    Here’s some breaking news:

Jerry Manuel has told reporters that Carlos Delgado has experienced a “couple of setbacks” and is officially out for the remainder of the season.

In addition to the oblique strain, Delgado apparently is having issues in his back, but according to Manuel, his hip is not a factor at the moment.

He was. I’m not sure if this news is important stuff, or just covering for giving him the rest of the season off. (Maybe a little of both.)

No point in any of these guys playing now.

How come when ARod and Utley were coming back, they didn’t have oblique or back problems? Is it age related or incompetent mets training staff related? I’m not joking.

  65. Comment posted by four3two1 on September 18, 2009 at 5:41 pm (#1083011)

    incompetent mets training staff related

    ding ding ding ding ding!

  66. Comment posted by four3two1 on September 18, 2009 at 5:42 pm (#1083012)

i would have also accepted just incompetent mets as the correct answer

  67. Comment posted by sheadenizen on September 18, 2009 at 5:46 pm (#1083013)

In all seriousness, I get the feeling the trainers tried to overcompensate for the hip and then created problems with the oblique and back. Of course, I have no way of knowing this is true, but my only comps are ARod and Utley who both came back earlier than expected. I know Delgado is a few years older then either of those guys, but he seems to keep himself in good shape, so I can’t figure out what’s taken almost 5 months.
