…Wouldn’t it be good, as a leader, if David Right had a personality like Frenchy’s?

    I think so.

Did you intentionally omit the “w” since we are not worthy of one?

  3. Comment posted by Jersey John on August 19, 2009 at 7:05 pm (#1062455)

…Oh, no C. I just noticed that after reading your response.

I think Frenchy’s probably more vocal — more up. Is that that important as a leader. I don’t know. It looks good to me though. :-)

you look at the comments on gameday comments and no one is here, at the game, i doubt it, the team is in a sorry situation, the injuries are to blame nothing else, for this season, i do not know how to account for the past 2 collapses, i can only think that the ball going through buckners legs (really it was bob stanley that blew it), was an amazing gift and we are now suffering the consequences of that good fortune and seeing the other side with the collapses and injuries

although i am sure it has been said, the mets have missed a huge an opportunity, now many teams have had the players the mets have had the last few years, 4 studs and the last 2 years, a dominant pitcher and strong closer, but here we are octoberless,
it will be interesting the next few years, reyes and wright - will they improve or stay as amazing as they have been - will anyone rise to improve the starting pitching - i gotta believe the bullpen can be strong - and is the bench going to be of any importance
what will happen next year and year after?

If Billy Wagner’s return to New York this weekend is nothing more than a glorified audition, the Mets are already pushing the paperwork that will enable them to trade him.

According to a major league source, the Mets placed Wagner on trade waivers Wednesday. That means those waivers would expire at 1 p.m. EDT Friday, hours before Wagner is scheduled to be activated and make his long-awaited return from Tommy John Surgery.

It’s unlikely Wagner would be claimed, since any team claiming him would be on the hook for approximately $2.7 million of his $8.5 million salary for this year, plus a $1 million buyout of his option for 2010. So if, as expected, he goes unclaimed, the Mets would be able to trade him to any interested club.

If the 38-year-old lefthander is claimed, they would have until next Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 25) to work out a deal with the team that claims him.

With Francisco Rodriguez under contract long-term and Wagner about to become a free agent, the Mets are expected to work aggressively to try to trade their former closer before the Aug. 31 waiver trading deadline. In the current economic climate, it’s also likely that the Mets will have to eat at least some of the money left on Wagner’s contract if they hope to get a useful prospect in return.

what can they expect to get in return

Wagner is not going to be a salary dump at all.

If the Mets trade him for anything less than top prospects, its a joke. Because we’re getting top prospects at the end of the season just by offering the man arbitration.

    He’s not re-signing with us.

i agree, the mets have to get something decent back wags

What I want for 1B is a power hitting 1B. I don’t mind bringing in Nick Johnson on a one year deal. Sign Delgado on a cheap deal. Let them compete for it.

Left Field. Abreu on a cheap deal.

Starting rotation, minor league deal for Bedard, Sheets.
