For once I agree with mc

…jeeez… too much work… really… i guess i understand that… it’s just, as a fan, who is proud of this team’s history, i’d love to see guys like Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter, Tom Seaver, maybe Mike Piazza, Robin Ventura, etc., on field, having fun, and playing again…

…although, since the Championship Banners are tucked away, hidden, facing the chop shops, and since nobody has any idea where the World Series trophies are, i wouldn’t be surprised to see this Old Timer’s Game played in the Wiffle Ball field in center field…

    Thanks alot Beltran!!!!!!

NEW YORK — Jayson Werth’s power push paid off.

Fresh from homering for the fourth straight game, the Philadelphia outfielder was picked for the NL All-Star team Friday as a replacement for injured New York Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran.

The World Series champion Phillies put three outfielders on the NL roster for Tuesday night’s game in St. Louis. Left fielder Raul Ibanez was elected by fans to start and center fielder Shane Victorino won a spot in Internet voting for reserves.

It’s the first time in 37 years that an NL team sent three outfielders to the All-Star Game — Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell and Al Oliver went for Pittsburgh in 1972.

    Sue? really?

We all know that walking and texting is a tough combination — but a Staten Island teen learned the hard way when she fell into an uncovered sewer manhole while trying to send a message.

Now, the family of Alexa Longueira, 15, intends to sue.

The girl suffered a fright and some scrapes on her arms back after she dropped into the hole on Victory Boulevard.

“It was four or five feet, it was very painful. I kind of crawled out and the DEP guys came running and helped me,” Longueria told the Staten Island Advance.. “They were just, like, ‘I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”

For its part, the Department of Environmental Protection said its workers had turned away briefly to grab some cones when the incident occurred.

“We regret that this happened and wish the young woman a speedy recovery,” DEP spokeswoman Mercedes Padilla said in a statement. She added that crews were flushing a high-pressure sewer line at the time.

The girl was checked out at Staten Island University Hospital and released.

Sewer line workers are supposed to cut off pedestrian access to work sites or at least mark them with warning signs.

The family said they will file a lawsuit — for what, though, is not immediately clear. Her mother, Kim Longueira, said it doesn’t matter that her daughter was walking and texting, and also, the ‘gross’ factor that can’t be ignored.

“Oh my God, it was putrid,” she said. “One of her sneakers is still down there”

Speaking of prospects, Eric Simon of Amazin Avenue posts a very long, in-depth Q&A about the Mets farm system with John Sickels of Minor League Ball, who says of Ike Davis, “As a hitter, he projects as a regular first baseman… he’s doing a lot better this year and controls the zone very well.”

I could tolerate the move if it was Exxon. Not for Argh who can’t hit to save his life and doesn’t have such a positive fielding ability to stomach his presence on the roster.

The Mets have acquired OF Jeff Francoeur from the Braves in exchange for OF Ryan Church.

Francoeur, who is eligible for arbitration after this season, is batting .250 with 5 HR and 35 RBI this season.

    …love the deal…

…the Mets needed to shake up the roster… the potential francoeur has is much greater than that of church, plus the Mets lose nothing on the defensive side…

    …welcome aboard, frenchy…

Unbelievable. So this retard likes the move because it “shakes up the roster” and Frenchy has more “potential.”

WTF? What does frenchy have over church that I am missing? He can’t hit lefties that much better either. To improve our team this move does nothing. Nothing. Omar makes a move just to make a move. This is a lateral move at BEST. Does Frenchy have better range than Church in cavernous Citifield. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Church was a huge part of our team but he is solid in the field and can hold his own with the bat. I don’t like it, makes no sense.
