…What’s the problem guys? It’s the “best pitcher in baseball” against Joe Blanton.

What could possibly go wrong? :-)

The truth is all our competition has to play here as well. So frankly Doc, I think it’s a bullshit excuse.
They’re playing in CBP…it’s a HR in CBP. End of story! Sorry, but no more rationalization for this crew.

Shea, I understand your fustration but this team isn’t the team we thought we had opening day cause of injuries. So my expectations are lowered accordingly. Note I missed yesterdays suck fest so perhaps I’m not in as bad a mood as everyone else.

  38. Comment posted by The Gooch on July 5, 2009 at 2:37 pm (#1025967)

I dont understand why people think this teams problems are injury related because if my memory serves me correctly, they havent been that great for a few years, even with the core intact. They have had offensive problems since 06′ so really, do people really think a few guys coming back is going to change things that drastically?

  39. Comment posted by metswin2009 on July 5, 2009 at 2:38 pm (#1025968)

    I think offensively definately.
And defensivley as well. I mean Delgado is a slight improvement over Murph. Beltran is better then anyone we put out there in CF and Reyes is way better then Cora. But, the key thing is HOW healthy will they be. If they are only 90% then your gonna see about the same kind of play we are seeing now

Thats simply not true. Last season 799 runs (tied for 2nd with the phillies)

    2007 804 runs (4th in NL)
    2006 834 runs (3rd in NL)

The offense was not the problem last two years. And it wasnt this year either until the injuries.

So the only things between us and a 10 game losing streak are:

    - a 1-0 win
    - a 5 run comeback against the Pirates
    - and 3 more outs

    Yay!

    lol.

Team does not need blown up. Teams needs to be healthy.

Whether they can get healthy in enough time to remain in this is becoming less and less likely as the days pass by.

Btw..I know people are saying injuries are understandable but sloppy play isnt, they go hand in hand. If DW doesnt think he has to do it all, maybe he does GIDP in a big spot or K twice. Same with Tatis.

I mean we have seen David over the course of many years now…….this isn’t typical david wright here. He normally does not K this much and especially in big spots.

This team is in a slump and just like the past two septemebers, everyone is pressing.

Guys need to come back so that everyone can relax a bit!
