I think offensively we’re worse than the Nationals. Our pitching is still much better.

You think that one would’ve made it out of Utley Corner, Dep?

sadly, i think jerry may be here next season

I also agree with that. The man has a built in excuse and the Wilpons will allow him to stay on because after all, what has the poor man had to work with?

He’ll be back. And ya know what? Omar will too. Same bat time, same bat channel.

    Same shitty result. Watch.

The Nats have scored 5 runs in just 5 innings tonight. We’re on pace for 5 runs for the week.

That’s how the Wilpons roll though. Finally I think one writer called them out because the Mets “don’t believe in accountability.”

    It’s all the Wilpon way.

    lol like it matters

oh, and the nats obviously are better than us offensively and probably not much different defensively (and don’t forget about WILLIE HARRIS)

but i wonder if our pitching is even that much better right now to offset their offensive advantage lol

I love the idiots on BBTN talking smack about the Nationals and how they were the perfect team for Smoltz to start against for his first start. That lineup can mash! But I cannot expect these lazy ESPN people to understand that.

The KSR crew is hearing from multiple sources that Xavier Henry to Kentucky is likely. Now, to be sure, nothing is confirmed yet and if this situation has taught us anything, it is to wait until all the dust settles. But as of right now, things are looking pretty good.

Matt Scott, who works for The Shiver, said on Kentucky Ink: “I have been told by two very good sources that they are UK bound and that this has been in the works for some time now.” Apparently, Chris Fisher has been hearing the same. Couple that with what the KSR crew has been hearing, and you’ve got yourself a lot a chatter saying Xavier to UK is looking like the likely ending to this saga.

Again, nothing official as of yet, but it sounds like everyone’s sources are in agreement that the Henry’s to UK is likely.

Update: Here’s a link to the Live Chat on Kentucky Ink. Wanna see if the big blue nation can bog it down??

    bahahahahahahahahahahaha

I think Omar will be gone …sooner than later. I heard a rumor that Bobby V turned down the Nats GM job, in anticipation of getting the Mets GM position. Now that would be both ironic, and a step in the right direction for the franchise.

jerry’s next big idea (i cant remember if i posted this yet so pardon me if you’ve seen it)

    Inside Pitch

Oliver Perez(notes) (right knee) is expected to make a final rehab start Friday with Class AAA Buffalo before being activated from the disabled list. Manager Jerry Manuel said that once Perez returns next week, he could piggyback on starts by Tim Redding(notes)—with one pitcher going five innings and the other four innings.

Manuel acknowledged using Perez that way would be unorthodox. In fact, the manager couldn’t recall an instance at the major league level of two starters being used consecutively for a half-game apiece.

One positive byproduct, Manuel acknowledged, is that it could allow for a built-in off day each turn through the rotation for the bullpen to recuperate. It also would allow the Mets to gauge Perez’s worthiness to re-enter the rotation.

Perez signed a three-year, $36 million deal during the offseason. He had a 9.97 ERA in five starts and has not appeared for the Mets since lasting only 2 1/3 innings in Philadelphia on May 2.

Perez made a successful rehab start Sunday for Class A Brooklyn. He tossed five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out six. The goal is to get his pitch count to 90 on Friday with Buffalo.

This team has a real bad combination of injury prone, aging players, with no farm system. Very similiar to the 1992/1993 Mets.
