    good news?

i don’t know if i’m encouraged by that or not

well, considering we were waiting to hear it may be season-ending or even career-ending type shit.

i think we got very good news

even if this season is tanked, still good news.

Wonder if the Gomez trade is a precursor to a Heatley trade. Bad thing is they don’t have anyone to pass Heatley the puck if they get him.

gotta be a precursor for heatley IMO.

supposedly you guys raped the habs

supposedly you got their #1 prospect too

I liked Gomez’s game but he never meshed well enough with any of the big guns. He is one of the best in the league in moving the puck from end to end but he can be prone to overhandling and making bad passes. He wasn’t worth the money the Rangers signed him for but I think he brought more to the Rangers on a nightly basis than Drury.

Some isles fans love him cause he’s a local boy iirc.

Rangers had to make space under the cap.

    Smart trade.

The Gomez trade looks to work in the Rangers favor. There was never any need to sign both he and Drury and even though I disliked the signing from the beginning, I never thought that Gomez would play this poorly.

For Sather to be able to make up for his mistake by dumping that bloated contract for Montreals best prospect in McDonagh as well as a solid prospect in Valentenko is nothing short of a miracle. Not to mention Higgins who is a RFA, so if he doesn’t resign with the Rangers, they get compensation and don’t have to take on a huge salary. He was a disappointment, but did have 57 points in 07-08, so there’s only upside to that one.

    Bring on Heatley!

  24. Comment posted by MyFavoriteBaseballSquadron on June 30, 2009 at 6:31 pm (#1023227)

I still hope they can move Rozsival in the Heatley trade. Free up as much cap room as possible and maybe go after some of their other needs like a bruising D (Komisarek) or even see if they can get Gaborik. I don’t know who they’re going to give up to get Heatley. I would imagine they’d be hesitant to trade Dubinsky now that Gomez is gone so maybe Callahan? If the package they sent for Heatley was something along the lines of Rozsival/Zherdev/prospect or draft pick then I’d go for that.

    mets doing some overslot

Greene has lived and breathed baseball for the past eight years and that single-minded focus paid off earlier this month when he was selected by the New York Mets in the 16th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.

Greene signed a contract with the Mets a few weeks ago, but has not been allowed to report to the rookie league club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., because Major League Baseball is reviewing the contract. Lorna Greene said her son received a signing bonus equivalent to that of a fifth-round draft pick and that such deals must be approved by MLB.

Wonder what the additional deal would be. If it’s to dump Redden then I’ll forgive the Mets for being so bad now and I’ll be looking more forward to the Rangers season.

DURHAM, N.C. - Mike Krzyzewski made it clear: He’s not ever going to coach the Los Angeles Lakers.

During his annual summer meeting with reporters Tuesday, one of the first topics covered by the Duke coach was the simmering buzz that had him leaving the Blue Devils for the Lakers if Phil Jackson retires.

“I’m not going to the Lakers. They have one of the great coaches in the game,” Krzyzewski said. “I don’t know where that rumor started, but there has been nothing done like that, and I’m not leaving Duke. Whatever you hear about anything like that, I will never leave Duke until I leave coaching.”
