I don’t think money will be an issue for alot of teams looking for Johnson. But no way should a GM from an NL team offer as much as a GM from an AL squad who can afford to keep Johnson around as a 1B/DH player. We are at such a disadvantage if we enter that market.

8. Juan Urbina, LHP, Venezuela
Height/Weight: 6′2″/175
Urbina is a projectable lefty, and is the son of Ugueth Urbina. A number of teams are interested in him because of a fastball that’s hit 92 that he throws with solid command, as well as for his good feel for a breaking ball. The buzz is that he’s already reached a verbal deal with the Mets for $800,000, but Urbina contends that he’s still uncommitted. One interested club says he is indeed off the market, and left some money on the table; the Royals, Cubs, Padres, and Rangers are among those still hoping to land Urbina.
hmmm.
something tells me the media would salivate over this.

Well, that was a short-lived party. Democratic control of the state Senate ended today when two dissident Democrats switched sides, returning control to the Republicans, GOP officials said today.
Republicans have since voted to replace Senate Majority leader Malcolm Smith after the surprise political coup

Hes a FA at the end of the season, hes injury prone and hes having an awful season fielding (probably alot to do with his infielders as well). Omar may be able to steal him.

The fielding gaffe in the ninth wasn’t what had Guillen stewing. He was more upset about his team’s inability to move runners and get down bunts.
“If this was the 1980s, [none] of these guys would be in the big leagues right now, because if you hit .210-.230 and you can’t execute, I don’t think you should be out here,” Guillen said.
“When you can’t bunt, hit-and-run, squeeze and move the guy over, you better hit 40 home runs and drive in 140.”
He didn’t name names, but the White Sox manager was visibly upset.
Ramon Castro of the ChiSox is currently hitting .230 for the season.
Just sayin….

the loss of Delgado has exacerbated an already existing problem.
then again, at least we can’t kill too many rallies.
Oh im sure Omar has inquired about him. Right now there probably just fielding other offers and seeing how high is value is. Im with Ed. I dont think his trade value would be all that high. Hes a FA at the end of the season, hes injury prone and hes having an awful season fielding (probably alot to do with his infielders as well). Omar may be able to steal him.
Theres nothing worse then being 3 runs down and somebody hitting a 2 run homer for us. No power means more rallies, lol
Yes, but even reasonable people wouldn’t have expected this. Wright, Jose, and Beltran are all hitting a lot less homeruns than their careers would suggest. Church isn’t hitting for any power at all. At the loss of Delgado to that….
yo geeks
dep is home, safe n sound
You know, I hadnt really even thought of that. Excellent point. Very well could be.
Deppers! How was your Doc Gooden experience?

Did anyone else find the timing of President O’s visit to Middle Eastern Sunni nations remarkable? A week before the heated Lebanon election where Hezbollah was running (which lost today) and Iran’s upcoming 6/12 election. I’m sure the Sunni’s scheduled this the first day after Pres. O took office.
yeah!!!!!!!!!
snob
send it to me. I’ll give it a good home
:) I’ll try bob, I’ll try
Hey, I got stuck drinking Busch beer with my Father n Law this weekend. I wouldve killed for a MGD, LOL
I did not notice the timing. hmmmm
it is interesting that Hezzbollah was leading the polls as recently as last week.
I was at my neighbor’s house recently, went in the fridge and found a couple of rouge cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon and Schaefer.
I had the Schaefer. After all, it’s the one to have when you’re having more than one.
Gramps used to drink it back in the day. PBR too.
You guys met Trachsel? Did he pace around you a few times while biting his glove before he introduced himself?
pops had a brief Meister Brau run when i was a kiddie… Thankfully he moved on
DONT EVER DISS PBR !!!! OR YOU GET THE WRATH OF A ROIDED UP BOOEY !!!! %#^*#%$*(^$#(
Ha, that was my pops beer. We use to steal many a Pabst back in the day, lol
PBR is having a hipster-rebirth. It’s cool to drink PBR if you wear tight jeans and horn-rimmed glasses. I’ve been on that bandwagon for years.
yr a good man nye ,,,,
Wait’ll those keedz get a load of Schlitz.
anyone ever have black label ??,, it was NASTY,,,, biutt cheap thus we drank in college ,, :)
black label had a permanent home in my dorm room bob..
and honestly if drinking schlitz becomes a requirement for popularity, I’ll happily live in obscurity

ok ok im out guys ,,,,, off to metro north ~~~and perhaps a beer on the train ,, :)
Random, but if anyone has an extra ticket for 6/20 (preferably one that costs less than $50), let me know, as I need to buy one. The ticket I thought I had fell through, there’s nothing on Mets.com for less than $90, and StubHub is a last resort because most sellers make you buy both tickets.
i want dunn (nh)
the cheaper version of “pbr” was “rwb” (red, white & blue)
that was the beer of choice under the golden dome…
YOUR wild-card leading New York Mets!
Ramon Castro of the ChiSox is currently hitting .230 for the season.
Just sayin….
That’s still better than Brian Schneider of the Metropolitans, Ramon.
