Fuck Murdoch. And prior to him, fuck Peter Kalikow. My mother worked for the Post back when Kalikow owned it. Some how, some way he was able to cheat the Guild Union out of their pensions. So when Murdoch took it back from him and locked out every member of the Guild (including my mother), they got nothing. 13 years in that place and nothing to show for it. Only a handful crossed that picket line. the majority lost their jobs

I am always skeptical when corporate entities ask their employees to take massive cuts in salaries and pension. I want to see what their top editorial staffs and executives are making today compared to what they were pulling down a decade ago before they can cry bankruptcy.

Oh, and how that crooked cocksucker Kalikow gets ta be the fucking Chairman of the MTA is beyond my comprehension. What a fucking world we live in where scumbags like this continue to move up the ladder by stepping on and over all of the carcasses they leave behind.

My mother was making sick money back then. Her final position prior to being locked out was as head of the Post City Desk. She was pretty much in control over the entire news room, making sure that everything ran smoothly so that the reporters and editors could do their jobs uninterupted by bullshit. She was the woman behind the curtain if you will. I believe she was making somewhere in the low 40k range. This was in the very early 1990’s. I wanna say around 1992ish.

Well, I man it makes total sense. He’s a wonderful union buster, he’s exactly the type of exec who made NYC Post shareholders and his political bosses in the Senate go gaga. The MTA just ran one of the most successful union busting campaigns in NYC history under his regime.

He’s a real estate man. He had no business operating a newspaper. He ran it into the ground and now he takes pleasure in running the MTA into the ground. He’s like Midas except everything he touches turns to shit.

I bet he helped save the MTA money after the strike.
As for the Post, well…yeah….

Honestly, I would be surprised if anyone held such a position. The entire industry has changed dramatically. None of them print on site anymore and everything has been done electronically for years now. A paper like the Post probably has half the number of employees they had back then. And even that’s a generous estimation.

Kalikow is such a powerful real estate figure in NYC, he could get any job he wanted with his connections. The landowning class along with Wall Street run NYC.
