    Castillo

The way I look at it, he’ll be easier to pinch hit for down there…I expect Cora to see a lot of time there eventually, tho he cant hit either..and I still think murph might get some occassional PT there…

Hudson w have been a sweet addition…hey, what’s alfonzo up to these days?

I don’t form opinions about guys I don’t know Tim. I haven’t seen him pitch enough to tell you if he is going to be good or not. Changing leagues could very well cause him to have an identity crisis. I hear he is good but he will never break any records since Mariano is much better than him, assuming he is still pitching since I haven’t seen him this whole offseason

This reminds me of LF last year with Alou and Pagan as the “backup plan”

Cora is an AWFUL AWFUL backup plan for the position most likely to need it.

i mean unless they break mold and throw murphy there we have NOTHING behind castillo if we need somebody for extended period type shit.

John Maine limited the Marlins to two runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings as the Mets beat Florida, 9-2, Tuesday night. Maine also produced an RBI when Anibal Sanchez walked him with the bases loaded.

“I still think I’m a couple of miles per hour off with my fastball,” an otherwise encouraged Maine said.

J.J. Putz cut short his relief appearance after two outs because the edge of the nail of his middle finger peeled away, although it’s not expected to affect him.

Triple-A-bound Jonathan Malo had an inside-the-park homer.

    Dont have an accent either

For example, no self respecting New Jerseyian would say they couldn’t discern differences in accentuation between people from the South and North region of the state.

    Power Surge Before First Swing
    By Ken Belson

The new ballparks in New York are packed with new amenities, including plenty of suites, restaurants and even waterless toilets. But all these extras use electricity, a lot of it.

Con Edison expects the new Yankee Stadium to use about 9 megawatts of electricity during peak times, enough to power about 9,000 homes or the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Citi Field will use as much as 11 megawatts, or a shade less than the new Goldman Sachs tower near ground zero.

Madison Square Garden, by contrast, uses 5 megawatts.

The teams will need the extra juice to run their ballparks because both will include more of everything, except seats. Citi Field will have 11 elevators, 4 more than Shea; 41 percent more concession stands per fan; and more than triple the interior space for restaurants, offices and other facilities . The stadium will also have 850 flat-panel televisions and one of the largest scoreboards in professional sports.

The Yankees’ new home will have 56 private suites, up from 19 in the old stadium, and nearly twice as much space devoted to team stores. Hungry fans can go to the Legends Club, the Hard Rock Cafe or NYY Steak.

To prepare, Con Edison installed new transformers and enough cable to circle the bases at Yankee Stadium 388 times. The utility added feeder cables at Citi Field and almost a mile of new high-voltage wiring.

“These aren’t the statistics that everyone will be tracking inside the ballpark,” said John Miksad, Con Edison’s senior vice president of electric operations. “But they are the stats we follow, and the ones that matter for lighting the scoreboards and keeping the escalators running.”

Yes, exactly. I say “talk” the typical way. But I’m from Northwest New Jersey, very different from Central and South.

Booey, Simons is coming May 25th or 26th. Not April. And I’m planning to be there. You can still go in May, right?

“Water” is another great Jersey accent litmus test word.

There is also “daughter”, “slaughter”, “astronaut”, “fought”,”caught”.

Here’s a test for all Jerseyians: Try saying, “My daughter caught slaughter after she fought the astronaut” into a tape recorder and play it back. After hearing it a few times, then decide whether or not you have an accent.

A speech coach gave me a similar sentence to say into a tape recorder. She didn’t let me listen to it until I recorded it again a month later. 100% change.

this is old, but rather amusing..and it makes me all nostalgic

“I am from NJ. I curse… a lot. I say “yo”, and I say it often. I never had school on Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. I sure as hell don’t pump my own gas. I know what real pizza tastes like, and I know that a bagel is much more than a fuckin’ roll with a hole in the middle. I judge people by what exit they get off the parkway. I can navigate a circle–with attitude. All good nights must end at a diner–preferably with cheese fries. It’s a sub, not a hoagie or, worse yet, a hero, and I wash it down with soda, not pop. Two words… “mother fucker.” I don’t go to the beach, I go down the shore. And boardwalk brawls are just a part of the atmosphere. Yes, I drink cawfee. I know that 65mph really means 80. I’ve always lived within 10 minutes of a mall. When someone cuts me off, they get the horn AND the finger. And they expect it. I am from New Jersey, and damn proud of it.”

That’s excellent, 4321! Most of that is spot on. Although we didn’t have many traffic circles where I grew up. And I wasn’t especially close to the Parkway or the Turnpike.

And at some point I started using beach instead of shore, sometimes. It just got easier. But when I say, that I’m going to the beach in front of my Jersey friends, they look at me as if I was nuts!
