I know I have a unique place here at the geek, just like you do Athena and many others; however, Dep is like a teen idol here, much like Justin Timberlake. Someone who can keep his popularity even after the craze is seemingly over, unlike laughing stocks Leaf Garrett, Bobby Brown and the boys in NKOTB

Haha! Excellent analogy, Chris. Should we start calling him JT?

And it is awesome that you remembered Leif Garrett! So funny! But, aren’t you a little young to know who he is? That reference made me think of 1980’s hearthrobs like Lance Kerwin, Shaun Cassidy, Christopher Atkins. I thought all of them were pretty drippy. I can’t even remember who I liked when I was a little girl. Probably an older man like Randolph Mantooth! Sigh.

Will do, Tim! I’ll start planning my wardrobe. ;-)

Although, to be honest, Wdwrkr was quite a gentleman! He treated the women around here like queens.

    Not like you lot. ;-)

Johnnie Gage….I just watched about 10 episodes of Emergency on HuLu….awesome…..that show was way ahead of it’s time. Made me want to be a paramedic……great call Athena… I pictured you as a Baio lady though….

Leif was before my time. I was between him and Shaun Cassidy. Between Dickie Roberts and having a sister, shhhhhh, and brother who was born in the 60’s, I learned about 70s and 80s pop culture even though my teen years were spent in the 90s.

FYI, my first crush was Tiffany Amber Thiessen.

It was an awesome, awesome show, Timmy! Maybe I’ll take a look on Hulu, too!

I can’t remember what I thought of Scott Baio. I loooved Happy Days. But he certainly wasn’t my favorite! I also liked the Big Ragu on Laverne and Shirley!

My brother was a huge emergency fan. He became a medic because of that show. I like the show. Engine 51, squad 51. I remember being 8 years old thinking Oxnard California was so cool because the TV station showed Emergency back to back during the day. Also the thrifty drug store had ice cream scooped fresh in the store. For a pudgy 8 yr old, it was ecstasy

Sounds perfect! We used to ride our bikes to the news stand/party store in my town. He sold penny candy. 45 cents could buy you enough Mary Janes, Tootsie Rolls and Bazooka gum to make yourself sick!

Ha! I loved that show, but I think that I might have preferred Grant Goodeve. Like I said, I preferred older men! ;-)

I really can’t remember a teen heartthrob that I really loved. I’m wracking my brains, but no one comes to mind.

I definitely remember the Weekly Reader and Dynamite magazine.

And I loved Zoom! Had a big crush on one of those guys. Tommy, I think. But I was probably about 8 years old.

In high school, we did a sketch comedy show and I headed up the weekend update like show. Basically a bunch of Erik Estrada jokes and jokes about teachers (Pre-approved of course). At the end, I said

“most people will never recognize their biggest high school fantasy. Most guys want to be the football star and I failed at that. Most guys wanted to date the hottest girl in school and guess what, I could only get to the “special” friends level. Yet, none of those were my greatest fantasy. Tonight, I will realize my dream. Tonight I will be interviewing the greatest comedy team of all time. No, it isn’t Laural and Hardy or even Richard Pryor and Gene wilder. Ladies and Gentleman, Scott Baio and Willie Aames.”

It was the funniest sketch I was ever a part of. It even beat my sketch where I player a wrestler named firetruck who lost via an “Indian burn from hell.”

I’m not going to Opening Day, Tim. And it is a night game. A lot of the Geeks are going, but I don’t have tickets.

I did buy a 15 game pack. I have no idea when our first game is, though. What about you? Any plans to see your Boys?

a wrestler named firetruck who lost via an “Indian burn from hell.”
