May Eaton quickly get snapped up by some AL team that doesn’t face us or any of our rivals in interleague. You know he will fuck things up for us if given the opportunity.

dude, lew, our LB corp is going to be filthy

we’ll still suck, but our LBs are going to be nice

yea i dont get the moore move. i guess they want that money freed up

    maybe they resign him still

Great LB’s with a defensive genius — I still hope that Gohlston turns into something like Pace did in his year 3

Moore is going to get more money from someone else than the Jets owed him, he is the best guard on the market

The only number the Mets should be concerned with is 11. The number of playoff wins to a title.

Who cares how many regular season wins we have as long as the number is 1 more than the team in second place.

Citi Field will encourage some fans to sit up straight

Here is a picture taken by a reader named Phil of the Citi Field concern discussed a couple of posts down.

Obviously, this will be an issue for fans in the front row who sit back and/or slump in their chairs. So at least this matter will promote good posture!

Seriously, folks, it will be difficult for me to assess this fairly until I haul my tush out to Citi Field and check it out for myself.

leaning forward or sitting at the edge of the seat were the better option for me.

If we add Leonard next to Rhodes, the Jets might have one of the best back 8 in football.

They are weak at one CB position, but so strong at the other and safety that it can be covered a little

The wonder is that the Dodgers wasted their time making an offer that they HAD TO KNOW wouldn’t be accepted. Why would they do that, you ask? Well, now Frank McCourt gets to say to his fan base, “Hey, I tried.” Well, no, Frank, you really didn’t.

For the past few years, Young has developed a reputation as a solid fielder even as the modern defensive metrics derided his contribution. In 2008, American League managers and coaches voted Young a Gold Glove, while the plus-minus system of the “Fielding Bible” rated him the 27th-best shortstop in the majors.

At least Young was in good company: Derek Jeter ranked 31st under the same system in 2008.

“When somebody sits there and says Derek Jeter is a bad shortstop, it’s comical,” Young said. “Derek brings so many things to the game that people don’t see or understand. He’s an unbelievable player, a first-ballot Hall of Famer and an incredible shortstop. It’s laughable to say he’s a bad shortstop.

    And the ignorance continues.

  86. Comment posted by Lunkwill Fook on February 27, 2009 at 3:12 pm (#933543)

That’s not an issue at third, where Young’s quick feet and soft hands should make for a smooth transition. He can’t see the catcher’s signs from third, so he’ll have to rely more on instinct than the powers of observation. But when you’ve fielded hundreds of slow rollers at shortstop, what’s the big deal about approaching the ball from a slightly different angle and throwing across your body?

More ignorance from Jerry Crasnick, insulting every solid fielding third baseman who ever played the game.

Bart Scott reportedly is going to give the Ravens a chance to match the Jets’ five-year, $40 million contract offer.
In an effort to break the story, many national sources said the deal was officially agreed to. But it was never signed and it now appears Scott is having second thoughts and wants to give Baltimore another shot. We don’t see why Baltimore wouldn’t match now, but it’s no lock. We’ll find out shortly. Feb. 27 - 2:57 pm et

Oh, and Calhoun is getting roasted. Absolutely torched. I know very little about college basketball (or college sports in general for that matter), but I do know that he has been a staple of that university for over two decades and is one of the most highly recognizable figures in all of college sports. I can’t even begin to imagine how much money he and that program have brought into that school since he’s been head coach.

They chose to pay him that money and now he’s supposed to just give it back because the state is financially fucked? How about every scumbag politician in this country that’s been lining their pockets with taxpayer money since the beginning of time take a pay cut in order to help alleviate this recent crisis? All of these cocksuckers with part time jobs collecting insane salaries and multiple pensions make me sick.

He didn’t stick a gun to anybody’s head and demand an annual salary of over one million. That’s what they choose to give him for the services he provides. And now that he’s won his 800th game the state government is taking umbrage with his salary? Fuck them.
