OK, Confused. So my reason for hating Windows is that it is (and always has been) a significantly weaker version of the Mac GUI OS.
Now contrary to what many believe, Apple did not create the first GUI based computer. In fact the concept of the GUI was first brought about by a Dr. Douglas Engelbart some time in the 1960’s. It was first used in a personal computer by the geniuses over at Xerox PARC’s think tank. That computer was the Xerox Alto. Steve Jobs saw the Alto while on a tour of the PARC campus. Not only was the Alto’s GUI technology rudimentary, but Xerox never had any plans to release the Alto (or any personal computer for that matter) out into the public. In fact, Xerox had no idea what to do with the GUI technology, so they were just gonna store it away. They were sitting on a goldmine and didn’t even know it.
A man by the name of Steve Wozniak teamed up with Steve Jobs in order to create the first Apple computer. Jobs was the marketing wiz (though he was and continues to be highly knowledgeable in the area of computers and engineering) while Woz was the grand creator. Woz took the basic, raw technology behind the Alto’s GUI, and invented the very first Apple computer. This was in 1976 and Apples GUI was nothing like the Alto’s. It didn’t even look or perform anything remotely like it. In fact the Alto didn’t even have a mouse, which BTW, is an Apple (Woz) invention.
In 1995, Microsoft introduced it’s first GUI OS: Windows 95. This is not my opinion. this is fact: it was in every way an inferior operating system to the Mac OS. And unlike the Mac’s version as compared to Xerox’s, Microsoft had all but copied Apple’s OS. They just made it look and perform different enough so that it could be called Microsoft Windows. Over the years it has improved a great deal. Most highly knowledgeable Windows users are aware of the difference and can honestly admit that the Mac OS is a superior product. But they continue to use Windows (and machines that run Windows) because Windows is the operating system that most people use. For better or worse, it is the OS that caught on (which is a whole other story). As a result, it has many distinct advantages like not only having more apps, but better and more versatile apps.
Anyway, I have used both for many years, though I was trained on Macs. I’m not biased because I see the good in both, but there is no question that Apple has continued to put out a better product than Microsoft year after year. And all too often I run into people who say, ‘well I hate Macs’ or ‘I hate PCs**’, but never give a solid reason as to why they hate one or the other.
**BTW, hating PCs is stupid because all computers are PCs. that includes Apple computers. The difference is in the software.
So I’m just curious as to why exactly you hate Macs so very much. Not looking for an argument. Just a well thought out reason behind your dislike for a company that has done nothing but open the door to the entire technological revolution that we are all currently witness to (and a part of). Because without Job’s foresight and Woz’s know how, Microsoft wouldn’t be the company it is today. In fact, it might not even exist. At least not in the way we know of it today. Gates would still be a major player in the area of computing and technology, but his role would be so very different.

I don’t hate Macs. I hate Mac users. They are pretentious jerks.

Yes, I know how to use a Mac and have experience using one. Your words are an example of why the PC crowd finds Mac users annoying. Go use your Mac but leave us in peace. I’ll honestly admit that the Mac OS is a superior product? In what way? Because it’s based on BSD? Screw that. I like using my PC and find my enjoyment in using a PC over using a MAC to be exponentially higher. If I want to do video/audio work, I’ll get a Mac. But I hate people telling me that I would admit a Mac was better: I like my windows and I think it works the way I think a computer should work. I don’t like OS X, and never liked Macs. But I don’t hate them. I hate Mac users shoving their “superiority” down our throats. We get it. Your stupid commercials have explained it to me.
Just the way Apple users crow that PCs are for the masses and we only use windows because we know it, I can say the same about iPods. They are an example of crappy engineering. I had an iPod for a while and iTunes was written by retarded sea monkeys dropped at birth on the plastic floor. But no, the masses has to tell me iPods are so amazing and they aren’t. They’re windows personified into a cute handheld. The OS for it is terrible and so is the layout. Ironically the Zune is so much better and what’s that, the masses deride the superior product.
What’s that all about?
If you love a Mac fine. Just keep it to yourself.

That’s unnecessary. I don’t even know how to properly respond to such an abrasive post. You have the nerve to come straight out and call me a pretentious jerk when all I did was give some information and ask someone’s opinion as to why they “hate” a particular platform? That reads like someone who has a serious inferiority complex.
Get a fucking life.

Dude, you came across as a pretentious jerk by 1) claiming that the Mac OS is better 2) if I knew anything about computers I would agree that Macs were better 3) that I use windows because most people do.
All three are lies. Neither OS is better, because that’s my opinion. I know about computers and went to Carnegie Mellon one of the greatest schools in the world for computer science and computer engineering. I know a lot about computers and will not admit Macs are better. My opinion is that it is different for everyone.
And lastly, grow a set and take me talking trash like a man. I found *your* post abrasive. You said something pretentious, I think calling you a pretentious jerk was more than PC there. Get it, PC!
It’s not an inferiority complex, don’t be an asshole. This Mac vs PC fight has been going on for decades. I responded to your original post: I don’t hate Macs. I think they’re just fine. Their users though tend to be militant and irritating. I get it, you love Macs. Why can’t you love Macs and not try to convert me at the same time? You’re like tech-missionaries. Get off my e-lawn.
