It’s true, outofmarket. He’ll either go 4-5 or 0-5. Meanwhile, Wright will swing at that slider away for the rest of eternity.

Man we have gotten no luck with our hard hit balls tonight.

This is for Pat because I know the retard will make a comment on here: when we have two runs, and they’re both driven in by Pedro: it’s not Pedro’s fault.

If Manuel comes back, he should be allowed to pick his own staff, and if a new guy comes in, same thing.

  54. Comment posted by JamesSC on September 20, 2008 at 9:53 pm (#853621)

I am so sick of Mike Gonzalez, every batter I just wish someone would jam a hit and knock his rocking back and forth idiotic stance on the ground.

Man, tonight sucked, lets hope the offense of Florida can wake up and steal this one from the Phils. Got to win tomorrow, big game for Pelfrey here.

Man lately Reyes is either spark plug and we score like 9 runs or big dud and we eek out just a few :\

Yeah, it is kind of frustrating that we seem to be incapable of winning without Reyes being on base 3 or 4 times in the game. We should be able to “overcome” him getting an 0-4 on a given night more frequently than we seem to be able to.

I think Easley’s injury is making an impact. He stretches the lineup a bit versus you-know-who.

  57. Comment posted by JamesSC on September 20, 2008 at 9:54 pm (#853623)

#30, yeah, but Future, can you tell me that you feel even a LITTLE confident coming into a game with Pedro pitching now? Sure, he pitched well enough that the team could have won this game for him, but he didn’t pitch well enough to WIN this game.

    1. He’s not deserving of that much praise with the caliber of hitters on this team: Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Delgado, Church…that’s 5 All-Star caliber hitters.

    2. He’s not deserving of that much blame either, these aren’t rookies. They have to hit.

    3. That said, the team can maul a starting pitcher and completely languish the rest of the game. I don’t know if HoJo doesn’t prepare the team for relievers, but I do know the team often looks completely unprepared against relievers.

Fine, then, if you can’t praise him for the positives of the offense, you certainly can’t blame him for the negatives.

Might as well fire him. He obviously doesn’t have to coach at all as, you say, the team seems to hit on its own…..

Future, yes, you did, but I tend to agree with Lunk. Sure, I don’t buy that the hitting coach will make or break a team hitting (even with rookies), but the fact is the team isn’t getting the job done, so it is probably time to look for someone who can help. (At least in the off season not now)

of course, the biggest place that will come from additional talent, but HoJo is getting the job done

Looks like the Fish are making a fight for it in the 8th.

Well, there’s good news in all this.

a.) Pedro can only pitch one more time this year.

b.) the Phillies winning was probably for the best, tripping up the Marlins so that they’re less likely to make a wild card run…

I feel a lot more confident that the Mets can run even with the Brewers than the Phils, we’ll say. If the Marlins and Astros fall away, that’s all the Mets need to do.
