Which one, Chris - the one that looks like she’s hiding an ICBM in it or the one where she looks like a polygamist?

Which one is the hair style that Paula Abdul has recently rocked? That is the one.

Keith Olbermann seriously believes he is a real journalist.

    Part of the problem

Olbermann is a creating of the times. Of course he has zero objectivity, but he doesn’t pretend to. And that was expected backlash to FOX and it’s effectiveness in delivering information to the electorate.

I just utterly hate cable news. Only time I watch is during a national disaster and I just switch between the three.

We lost the playoff tiebreaker to the Phils today.

Cable news has really dropped the ball in recent years. They just allow themselves to be spun around like tops (by the Republicans especially), and love to wallow in surface-level crap instead of delving into anything anyone really cares about. They do sh!t like act all admiring of campaigns that “win the news cycle” which I find just maddeningly absurd.

I listened to the lyrics of Naughty Cal from club dread. LMAO

    Tokie said “Hey,
    I’ve got an idea
that is if your not Yellow”
    Across the street,
    something sweet,
    an underwater bordello

    Tokie took
    them to seahorse whore house
    for a little spin

    Bongo took himself
    a pretty Prawn
    Cal preferred a dolphin

    Bongo the Stone Crab
    Got high as a kite
    fell and cracked his shell

    Tokie was lost
    in a maze all night
because he screwed his sense of smell

    Naughty Cal and his pals
    riding the waves for somewhere
    hiding low
    they blew all their dough
    ended up no where

LA La La La La LA LA LA

Keith Olbermann is not the problem with news media. Neither, to some extent, is Bill O’Reilly.

The problem is Brit Hume. The problem is Tom Brokaw. The problem was Tim Russert. The problem is Charlie Gibson. etc etc etc

Mets are actually decent about this. They don’t play a lot of splits unless they had a huge gate for the game that got rained out.

i’m personally shocked they didnt do day/nite on sunday, but there must be a team-related reason.

thanks doc! yea, mets.com confirms all that, sucks for ppl that had tix to 2nite’s game, not many 2008 games left to choose from to exchange

friday night, vs braves, they had a huge gate tonight imo

not sure if ya’ll saw this UPDATE: The Mets will use Johan Santana in Game 1 on Saturday and Jon Niese in Game 2. Oliver Perez goes Sunday and Pedro Martinez waits until Monday. The Mets didn’t want to use Martinez on Saturday, because then they’d need two starters in D.C. — on Tuesday and Wednesday. Niese originally would have gone Tuesday and Santana on Wednesday, but now Santana can’t go that day without being on short rest.

  69. Comment posted by JamesSC on September 12, 2008 at 9:46 pm (#842736)

Boy, Soriano has been on some tear. I have him on my fantasy team. Had he not missed all that time hed probably be an MVP candidate. But, we all know Delgado is the TRUE MVP

  74. Comment posted by littlefallsmets on September 12, 2008 at 10:35 pm (#842741)

Frankly, I’d rather see Niese than Pedro at this point.

  75. Comment posted by metswin2008 on September 12, 2008 at 10:37 pm (#842742)

Me too LFM. Pedro scares me. I am not sure if hes injured or tipping his pitches but he can only go so long and then he self destructs. He should probably be the one tp go to the pen but I dont think his ego could take it

This might be a good move based on pure matchups. At one point, pretty late in the summer if I recall, the Braves OPS vs lefties was sub .700. I haven’t paid attention so much since Tex left but that was with him.

As Carlos Delgado elevates his MVP profile, he might also be elevating his 2009 paycheck.

Buried in the fine print of the four-year contract Delgado signed with Florida before the 2005 season is an escalator clause that could turn his $12-million option for next year into a $16-million guarantee.

The escalator isn’t based on plate appearances or games played, or any of the vehicles usually used in these situations, however. It’s based on awards and award voting. And that’s where this could get interesting, for Delgado and the Mets.

Delgado needed to accumulate 30 awards “points” over the life of his contract to trigger that $4-million escalator. He already has five of those points, thanks to a sixth-place finish in the 2005 NL MVP voting.

Points are tallied based on his finish in MVP balloting over the life of the contract — 10 for finishing first, nine for second, eight for third, etc.

So how could he rack up the 25 more points he needs? It’s unlikely, but here’s how:

If he finishes sixth or higher in this year’s MVP election, which seems more probable all the time, that will get him at least five more points and push his total into double figures.

That would still leave him anywhere from 15-20 points short. But the escalator clause also includes postseason MVP points — 20 for World Series MVP, 10 for NLCS MVP.

In other words, if Delgado wins the World Series MVP award and finishes in the top six in the regular-season MVP voting, he would reach 30 award points — and automatically vest his option at an extra $4 million, guaranteeing him $16 million for next year.

Think that’s still practically impossible? Think again. Two of the last four World Series MVPs — Mike Lowell (2007) and Manny Ramirez (2004) — also finished in the top six in MVP voting that season.

So Delgado’s big season could pay off in more ways than one.

  82. Comment posted by metswin2008 on September 12, 2008 at 10:51 pm (#842746)

Good point Chris. Hes still slowly coming back from major injuries so lets see if he can get it back. I just get so frustrated at times and I know we have to be patient. But, can we get rid of Aaron Heilman? lol

  83. Comment posted by littlefallsmets on September 12, 2008 at 10:59 pm (#842747)

I have to believe he’s injured.

He’s too smart and hard working a pitcher for it to be something about tipping his pitches or a mechanical flaw or anything like that…

He’s an old player trying to come back off an injury that would end a lot of young players’ careers and… I think it just didn’t work.

    I think he’s just done.

  84. Comment posted by littlefallsmets on September 12, 2008 at 11:00 pm (#842748)

    Oh crap.

That would be THE worst case scenario with Delgado.

I… I want a shot at getting Tashaynaynay, dammit.

I’d rather have Wright or Murphy or Reyes or Beltran be the MVP and not be on the hook for 16 million for the giant question mark that’ll be next year’s Delgado at the exclusion of signing Texarkana.

    Call a dude crazy.
