Yea, Phelps eats 8-10,000 calories a day.
He eats like a major pothead. I hate like that when I was in college too but most of the calories came off Doritos and Devil Dogs, lol

Meaning: cute as a button ‘quail’ The ‘button’ quail was small, gray & super fluffy.

well, the button started out as the uglyist thing on earth….but then a fairy came down and bestowed upon the button “awsomeness” . now, when the button went to go tell the village people about it, they didn’t understand him. However, when the button used the word “awsomeness” it sounder like their word “astamaness” which means cute. so when the little village people grew up they kept saying their word for cute and from then on the name had stuck……

I don’t either. And what do The Village People have to do with it ;-)

I guess a button quail was a cute little bird. That must be it. More logical.

Er, even with top scores they would’ve needed each Chinese gymnast to fall down a few times.

Sorry, folks, but the Japanese were a better team and they were going into _their_ event for the last round. The Americans did well to medal.

well, no one asked me, but I do happen to know the origin of the phrase “cute as a button”…it actually has nothing to do with a button as in a button on a shirt. the button quail is a very small gray super, super fluffy squishy looking (or ‘cute’ if you will) bird. people used to say “cute as a button”, meaning “cute as a button quail” b/c the bird was considered so adorable. THAT is where it comes from. get it? thanks, i’m here til thursday. tip your servers.

They were suppose to compete with China for gold……Im not sure why were even close. Still silver isnt bad. It ended up falling out just like everyone expected.

The womens tonight should be good. With only 3 gymnasts going on each event and the US having the top two gymnist in the prelims……im thinking they should win but china will be tough.

That’s the point, john. If you’ve seen the Japanese on high bars, you know that they were gonna pick up ground on the Americans. The scoring system pretty much guaranteed it, too. The Americans could’ve kept it close, and maybe with strong performances, edged Japan, but they still lost to the Japanese by 3 pts. I don’t think either of the Asian guys could’ve scored a 15 based on their routines, so they really only gave Germany some slim hope at the end.

    whoa

According to ESPN.com, ‘a major league source’ is reporting that the Tigers have placed Gary Sheffield on waivers.

Teams have until Thursday afternoon to claim Sheffield, or if he clears waivers, he can be traded to any of the other 29 teams.

Sheffield, who is batting .219 with 10 HR and 33 RBI in 76 games, has one year remaining on his contract at $14 million.

…i know sheffield is not the middle relief help the Mets need right now but he is definitely the right-handed outfield bat we need in the lineup…if there is a time to pick up sheffield, it is when he has something to prove and i say take a shot…although the following year price tag worries me…

  61. Comment posted by sheadenizen on August 12, 2008 at 5:58 pm (#802836)

I heard that, dep. Sheff said he wasn’t happy. I guess he wasn;t getting the playing time. The problem is he can’t really play the outfield anymore….can he?

worry about next year…next year. He’s not the kind of guy Omar would like, though. Problem child supposedly! But if the Marlins get him, I’ll strangle Omar. Seriously!

I won’t even pretend to know. I havent payed any attention to sheff at all this year, he’s one of my least favorite players.

he thinks he can, that started this whole mess me thinks. the tigers sure dont.

it sure is interesting….i wonder how desperate the mets are…….
