Although SI.com’s Jon Heyman wrote there’s now interest in Adam Dunn from two teams, Reds GM Walt Jocketty said he hasn’t talked with anyone about the slugger today

I think SI was the folks Buster took a shot at b4.
I also feel as if giving a pitcher like Perez too long of a contract is inviting trouble for several reasons. He will eventually lose mph on his fastball and when that happens, his goose is cooked. Noone knows when this happens but it could certainly happen in the middle of a 6 year deal. Also, there are alot of moving parts on Perez and that also courts inconistency and erratic production.
Some team may be in the right position to take the risk, but again, I wouldn’t do it with another pitcher on my staff fufilling a 7 year deal. Its just too much of risk.
BTW, is there another team in baseball with two starting pitchers being paid 6+ years on a contract? We’d be the first to assume such a risk in ML history, no? Considering the history of such contracts, I sure as hell wouldn’t do it.
LOL @ Pierce. There is no way he is serious. He has to be either joking or trying to get into Kobe’s head.

I don’t understand why they don’t seem to give any thought to using Figueroa. It seems to me he’s certainly worth a shot as a reliever, esp since Muniz has hardly distinguished himself, and the price tags out there are too high.

Yeah, he’s here. If he’s going to be longman I’d dump his for Figgy.
i wouldnt wanna go 6. but the per year wouldnt bother me.
maine/pelf/niese or other 5 should all be cheap for years to come.
we can pay for 2 out of 5.
agree about the L-T risk of those contracts, that’s kinda scary
aight y’all. dep going home. c y’allz @ gametime!

Wasn’t here earlier, but congratulations, Chris!
