This may have been discussed, but did anyone see the amazingly jailbaitishly hot girl in the PLD jersey lastnight during the game? Chicks like that do not wear spanky molina jerseys.
We should follow an experts opinion but on this one I am still somewhat nervous of it since said expert still has a black whole in what exactly he knows. Nevermind that when factoring in Church’s concussion in March along with his progress and then ensuing regression. For me I will believe that Ryan will be back and productive when I see on the field for an extended period of time.
Jessica, you have my utmost thanks for finally finding a thoughtful, careful and judicious analysis of the Big P. I really appreciate it. This David Golebiewski is a very smart man.

I know Ramon. I would like to know how he knows Church is “likely to be mostly unavailable” when the doctors don’t!
Pelfrey is obviously a fastball-first pitcher, and that trend was still evident in April and May. The 6-7 righty threw his heater 77.5% of the time, at an average velocity of 92.73 MPH. Pelfrey got plenty of arm-side run on the pitch (-8.75 X), tailing the fastball in on righties. For comparison, the average fastball gets about -5.46 inches of horizontal break.

Hey Ramon I know you think I’m not a Pelfrey fan which is wrong by the way but I fought with a couple of guys on here over a year ago saying that Big P would be better than Hughes. They thought I was nuts
Mdog, didn’t you want to trade Pelfrey for Bedard?
Comment posted bymdog1111on July 16, 2008 at 11:55 pm (#767486)
NO I DID NOT. I never wanted him traded

The only negative thing I said about Pelfrey was that he needed to start showing more which he has certainly done. My other criticisms were with whoever told a very productive college pitcher to scrap what he was doing

I wanted to trade Pelfrey for a proven veteran. Like Randy Johnson. Yeah.

Just to have some fun. Imagine we lost nine in a row and were completely dead. Would you make this trade remembering we are out of it. Beltran and Ollie to the Yanks for Hughes and Kennedy. The skanks would have to be tempted and we would have the best young pitching staff in the league

I wouldn’t trade Tron, but I would definately be interested in getting rid of Perez in that case. Yeah.

Very tempting for those young guns though Ramon. The rotation would be set for the next 5 years
Then we could afford to overpay for Texiera amd F would take over CF
I am not so sure Fernando is ready to man CF. I also think Texiera will kind of cost more than he’d be worth. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets more than 7 years. But I like the creative approach…

Then we could trade Pedro for another prospect and Delgado for another. We could go from one of the oldest to the youngest real quick and still contend bigtime next year

I am bit scared off with Hughes’ injury nagging issues to be honest about it, all kidding aside. He seems to have different things ailing him and that seems to be a recipe for disaster when he pitches and overcompensates for those injuries. I still don’t see where all the hype is regarding his fastball, although his curve seems to be the tits.

Those injuries are why the Yanks would make that trade. It’s a risk but a huge reward if it worked out.

Getting young for the sake of being young isn’t the greatest idea IMHO. I like a mix of fellas and I wonder what dudes like Delgado and Pedro would fetch if they are FAs next year anyways. I agree, if we were out of the divisional race by over 10 games by the trade deadline, which we most probably won’t be (::knock on wood::), then we should trade what we can and prepare for 2009. But I don’t see things quite playing out the way you describe.

Big risk indeed since I don’t really believe in Hughes to begin with to be honest.

Like I said it was just for fun. I still see a nice mix. Wright and Reyes aren’t rookies anymor and Tex would be the experience in my little fantasy. Santana makes a nice guide for the kiddie pitchers as well. If Ortiz can’t come back I bet the Sox would give something decent for Delgado. Hansen maybe if they were desperate enough. They have a ton of arms

An awful lot of experts will be wrong if Hughes isn’t the real deal injuries aside

Won’t be the first time they were wrong. Especially with overhyped Yankees prospects…

I do see it as a wasted opportunity if we don’t make the playoffs. I think we have a lot of older useable players that we could help rebuild the farm with. A conteding team would pay a high price for Ollie if he continues to pitch like he has lately. Delgado, Pedro, and even Duque would be valuable to the right team
I agree, it would be a wasted opportunity IF we didn’t make it to the playoffs. I just believe we have a very solid shot at making it there and going deep.

One thing about overhyped yankee prospects. They usually trade the ones that arent any good. The ones they don’t trade like Jaba, Jeter , Posada, Petitte, and Riviera usually pan out

I agree. I don’t see anyone in the NL with as deep a staff as us. If Omar could add a righty left fielder the sky would be the limit. Of course add one without trading anything good

Unloading Delgado on the Red Sox would be ten levels of rad.

If they are considering Bonds they would certainly consider Delgado.

Word. And maybe Tatis might be that guy against *lefty pitching* anyways.
Why would we trade Delgado when we are winning and he is producing? That runs against the whole argument that we are in contention. As long as we are in the hunt, he should stay for lack of a better option. If we were out of it, I would definately consider trading him, but that isn’t the case right now and hopefully (::knock on wood::) it will continue to be that way for the whole regular season.

Yeah I’m not as worried if Church is ok. Between Tatis, Easley, Endy, Marlon, Evans etc…. Someone should always be hot. Thats why I would,’t give up a big chip.

Or… if he legitimately had some kind of migrane problem separate from the concussions which sounds sketchy as hell…
How would that exacerbate getting two concussions so close together? Wouldn’t that make that situation a whole lot worse?

Even that is a bit bleak based on reports from the medical experts:

I am just pessimistic about concussion’s after watching Eric Lindros and his career.
I gotta go. Later all

Santana
Pelfrey
Hughes
Maine
Kennedy
