   sarah, he wants him off only because Winn makes decent money and he wants the Giants to bring up some prospects. He knows the Giants don’t have a prayer this year and just wants to see some of the younger guys. It’s not because he doesn’t think he’s good.

   Fair enough point. I suppose we could do worse than Randy Winn as a stopgap, but his AB right before that rain delay was kind of pathetic. Then again, it couldn’t have been fun hitting in that kind of downpour.

   Re the Marlins - they may hang around, but they’re not quite as talented as a team like Rays. I can see the Marlins finishing third in the division with all the troubles the Braves have had. (with the Mets first of course and Phils second, I guess.)

    Some other things I like about Winn:

    Plays good D

    Switch hitter that bats about the same LH or RH

    Has decent speed (16/17 SB’s)

    Can bat him 2nd or 7th

    Doc, Winn would be my #1 overall choice if Omar really gave a crap, lol. Id take him over all the names ive been hearing. His speed is what puts him over the top for me. Its almost like getting another Reyes type player. I mean he’ll never steal that many bases but he will create havoc on the basepaths. Which will lead to more fastballs. Speed kills.

    Yea, that is true. I guess im old school. I remember when 35 homers would lead the majors so power back then wasnt really the issue. Plus, I saw the Cards win a couple of W.S. with guys who hit only likw 15 homers batting cleanup, lol. We could use the power bat, I give you that but I love a Winn type player. A 5 tool type guy that can bat 2nd isnt too shabby either

    The Alou news is unwelcome, (but not unexpected) At least now Omar can’t beat around the bush and tell us we don’t need another OF bat because Moises will be back any day.

    Between the uncertainty with Church and the Alou development, Omar now has to make a move. It better be good!

    yeah, alou’s injury upset me. seems like a career ender. i had made mention that alou should think about getting into hitting instruction; perhaps a college program (eg notre dame) would snap him up in a minutae

    I just like to steer clear of any and all steroids guys, and on top of that I tend to like to like the boring, mature, work their tails off, happy to be playing baseball, type players (in other words, the Lastings Milledges of the world are not my favorites)

    So you can see why I’m not lining up for Bonds!
