maybe it was this kid, i dont know where i got fabregas from lol

The Spanish club Villarreal reached an agreement in principle with Major League Soccer and the Red Bulls to sign Jozy Altidore, an 18-year-old striker, a team official said on Wednesday. Ivan Gazidis, the league’s deputy commissioner, confirmed the agreement.
Altidore, whose speed, strength, eye for the goal and potential have already made him a star in the United States, must still negotiate a contract with the club and pass a medical exam to complete the transfer negotiated by M.L.S., which owns all of its players’ contracts.

A fee was not announced, but a club official confirmed that it would be the largest transfer fee paid for an M.L.S. player, a figure that is likely to surpass $10 million and could end up being more, depending on Altidore’s performance. The figure could also increase depending on whether Altidore is subsequently sold by Villarreal.

so Man U can say no right?

they have to agree to sell him off basically right?

  4. Comment posted by Kneel Before Zod! on June 5, 2008 at 11:44 am (#716974)

actually, ive never seen these quotes from ronaldo. he’s
    being a bitch.

but yea, he’s signed for united thru 2012 and it sounds like
ferguson would rather shove a hot poker up his ass then
    send ronaldo to real madrid.

  5. Comment posted by Kneel Before Zod! on June 5, 2008 at 11:45 am (#716975)

hmmmm, its so strange for him to say all that like right after ManU won it all.

I assume he’s making mad dough at ManU right???

    I dont get it

  8. Comment posted by Kneel Before Zod! on June 5, 2008 at 11:47 am (#716977)

why would ronaldo want to leave united right now? what a
brat. i honestly wouldnt mind seeing him go — i think
united can win without him and he’s the only player i can’t
really get behind. hard dude to like.

  11. Comment posted by Kneel Before Zod! on June 5, 2008 at 11:48 am (#716979)

    yea ronaldo is rich.

i think it’s because he’s from portugal — Real Madrid
is like THE club over there. he probably grew up idolizing
    the team.

The double footballer of the year had stated on Saturday night that he would announce his decision “in two or three days” but journalists arriving at Portugal’s Euro 2008 training base yesterday were informed that he would not speak to the media until Friday at the earliest.

see i dont get that. Why is he talking about “his decision” if its not really his.

    he’s under contract, shut up.

    LOL @ this part:

Ferguson has said he would rather let Ronaldo rot in the reserves than sanction the deal.

    From MC Lite

…i was sent several e-mails yesterday, and saw a few comments, all ripping willie for ‘benching’ church, writing that willie is ‘stupid’ for wanting to play Endy Chavez instead…

…turns out, church wanted the rest…and sure, willie could have ignored the request, but given what church has been through of late it makes sense to let him rest when he needs it…

…of course, this didn’t stop some fans from assuming they know everything, going so far as to call a man stupid…

why do people do this…if i have learned anything from the experience of MetsBlog, it’s that we, as fans, are not as smart and aware as we’d like to think we are…me included…in fact, it’s made me less opinionated in some cases, because having had the opportunity to peak behind the MLB curtain, i now know there is so much about the game that i am missing…stats and boxscores are only a small part of the story…and there is only so much we can know factually through a computer…

I found this funny inlight of yesterdays link dump conversation.

    WE AS FANS KNOW NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a nice article, Zod. I love the picture of the dog and the giant rawhide bone. I can’t believe that they manufacture bones that size.

My dog used to run around with a rawhide but never chewed it - it was like a toy. He had it for most of his life. I didn’t even know they were edible until years later.

This draft day is reminding of another one a long time ago. My college boyfriend was a LHP and I so remember draft day our senior year. There was no websites for that sort of thing, so we just had to wait around all day. Finally, his sister called a newspaper and learned that he’d been drafted, but not where he’d gone.

Oakland A’s. And I cried a little because it was so far away. Silly.

    dep, danny:

The Sun reports that Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon finally appears to have conceded defeat in his battle to land Ronaldo. He declared: “Ronaldo is an impossible signing. His club don’t want to sell him. We can do nothing if the club that owns him don’t want to sell. We never approach a player under contract. This is not Real Madrid policy and especially not with a club with whom we are such good friends.”
