But why should we keep Delgado if he sucks so bad that we have to move him to 7th? Anyone playing first can hold a batting position at the 7th spot. At least we can get someone with better defensive range and baserunning ability who won’t bitch about being dissed for batting so low.

Yeah I saw it Danny I just have to figure out a way a to go now.
Ramon you have a point on Perez but I think he can consistently be counted on for 6+ innings which isn’t bad in todays game. While needs to improve he has shown progress this season and I am probably just a little giddy about that and hopes that he may be turning a corner.

Danny what is Nick Johnson contract situation and the chance he is made available for trade.

Delgado won’t be cut unless the Mets have traded for a better alternative. The alternatives within the system are not good enough to completely cut bait. Abreu and Tatis aren’t very good and Run EMC are way too raw to be trusted in a playoff stretch (at least by the regime).
Udamn, at this point I’ll take Dmitri Young. No joke.

Johnson is signed cheaply for the next couple of seasons. Bowden is a terrible trade partner because he asks for the moon in every deal.
Throw in Dmitri Young having injury issues, and I don’t see the Nick Johnson scenario ever presenting itself.

That’s saying something. What kind of stuff does Muniz have?
He doesn’t have great stuff, as I recall. I mean, he’s not a fireballer. But he has a good fastball, good movement, and good control. You know he was our closer in AA last year?
From Adam Rubin, via Metsblog, last Sept:
Muniz was 2-4 with a 2.45 ERA with 23 saves in 44 games for Double-A Binghamton, during which right-handed batters hit .191 against him, while lefties hit .213.
In three appearances during the Triple-A playoffs, Muniz allowed no runs and four hits while striking out four in 5.2 innings.
He also had a WHIP of 1.02 for Bingy, and a 2.61/9 BBs, and 9.51/9 Ks.

Ok I found Johnson’s contract and it is way reasonable at 5.5 million a year . He is signed for this season and next though he has the right o opt out of the contract if he is traded b4 next season.
Dan, what about Dmitri Young? Hell, I think we should inquire about Adam lRoche who can be had on the cheap since he is sucking sooo much right now.

Ramon, you’re banging your head against the proverbial wall on C-Del.
The Mets are not going to eat that contract. Unless they can find a willing buyer (unlikely), he is here for the duration. Which means, if Willie rubs his two brain cells together, he hits 7th until and unless he rediscovers the fountain of youth.
I think the best we can hope for is a platoon, maybe with Pagan, if he can be taught to play first. But the Mets have shown a notable lack of creativity about this — prob because they don’t want to hurt C-Del’s feelings, esp when there’s still a chance (however unlikely we may consider it to be) that he improves once the weather warms up.

I actually like the Johnson idea but I have always liked what he broughht to the table even as a Yankee. He reminds a little of Keith or atleast he used to. Although I have no clue what trader Jim would want for him or haw he has hit this season but he would be a good solution for this year and maybe a solid stop; gap until one of Run EMC proves ready for the show 2010.
I love Nick Johnson BTW. He is such a nice peice to have on our team. Our offense would be so perfectly complimented with him anchoring the lineup hitting 4th, Beltran 5th, Church 2nd, and Alou 6th. WOW.

Luci, Muniz is definately a guy to keep around. I see him as replacing Sosa, but can he pitch as many innings as Sosa and not have his arm fall off? I think once Wise comes, someone has to go down or leave the team and I hope that isn’t Mr. Smith.

Shit, Dmitri Young had an OPS+ of 129 last season. How long is he signed for?
Here’s a stat I live re Muniz:
in 58.2 innings last year, he gave up a total of TWO home runs. me likey. :-)
The Meat Hook comes with a ton baggage though Ramon.
I like Da Meat Hook, but he came to camp fat and he’s been hurt all year. I’m not feeling good about his chances of matching last year.
like, not live.
I think I’m ready for bed. Nite all!

Ok, no Meat Hook. Who then?
We have to wait and see who might become available. Maybe a Richie Sexson?
It’s not gonna be anybody too great.
The Sex Machine, huh? Interesting. How many years left on his contract, I wonder.
