Remembering Patrick

Patrick’s sister Kathleen has kindly shared with us a number of pictures of him. We thought that you would all enjoy seeing them. They brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye as I viewed them. I have a feeling most of you will have the same reaction.

Today may be as good a day as any to post this. Maybe Patrick has some connection with the guy upstairs. A little divine intervention would certainly help our Mets. And it’s also a time to remember Pat’s optimism. We could all use a good dose of that lately.

He’d never let anything like a few atrocious losses temper his enthusiasm. Let’s all channel Patrick these days ;-)

We miss you Patrick!

Let’s Go Mets!

P.S. To all those who donated to the memorial fund, the brick has been purchased. Bryan will be receiving his replica brick in a few weeks. The remainder of the fund is being sent to the American Cancer Society in Patrick’s name and memory. Heartfelt thanks to all.

P.P.S. If you don’t know who Patrick is, read here and here and here.

    Exactly what Dep said. :(

I’m heartbroken all over again. I miss you Pat. And man, I didn’t realize how big he was, I’m such a tiny guy it would have been funny to be there with him.

This is great, Shea. Thanks so much. Dep’s right, though, it’s pretty sad to see, but well worth the tears!

You said it best when you said we could use a little optimism around here. I really miss him telling all of us why we shouldn’t worry or why a particular starter was not getting enough credit. He’d set us straight on Castillo! (I’m not 100% certain of that, but I like to think so anyway.) ;-)

Man, the Mets better start winning consistently, considering they’re playing this season for Woody because I’m not going to be the one that has to explain to him why Delgado keeps playing. :)

Patrick was a great guy who always made new posters feel welcomed. He was an optimist and straight shooter. I miss him on the board very much.

Like PJ, Patrick is never far from my thoughts. I, myself, couldn’t help but smile seeing all those pictures because Pat was smiling. I envision him every so often at geek day with the smile that never seemed to leave his face that day and his zest for life, his friends and the Mets that we all eyewitnessed on that day and everyday on this site. We miss you big time Buddy!
