saw that you guys were talking about the rising wiffle ball and how announcers are wrong about saying a baseball rises…..I never liked it when they said that a ball picked up speed on a wet turf…..thats impossible…..I learned that in Physics with Proffesor Cartmenez…

How do I reach Dez Keeeddzzzzzz????

tim, they were just talking about something on the FAN (a guy from St Louis called) and I just caught dribs and drabs of it. Something about someone getting fired from a radio station and Dave Duncan and the Cards were involved someway. Do you have any idea what I’m talking about?

yeah shea…a local loudmouth has had a feud with duncan, and DD refused to talk to him on the air about it. The reporter, Kevin Slaten, called DD and did not tell him he was broadcasting live, got into an argument with DD and only told him they were on the air after the fact…..It’s really not much of a story …the radio guy has been accused of spousal abuse, assault and DUI in the past and is regarded in the ST. L area as a bully/ loudmouth…..he’s kinda a tool…oh yeah he punched a woman in the parking lot after a Blues game…

Alex (Princeton): With Pedro out and El Duque out, why don’t the Mets turn Heilman back into a starter? He’s terrible in the bullpen and probably wouldn’t be that much worse in the rotation. Probably would be a better option than Nelson Figueroa, no?

SportsNation Keith Law: Heilman can’t start. Doesn’t have the breaking ball.

someone explain this to me, i love my pancakes

God-Fearing-American(USA): You keep your sissy crepes to yourself, I’ll take good old-fashioned American pancakes any day! Love or leave it, pal!

SportsNation Keith Law: There’s a great line in a little book called Pasquale’s Nose, where a doddering old man in the town square comes up to the author and says without provocation, “No one ever feels good after eating pancakes.” And if you think about it, it’s quite true.

    a fair answer from steve

Glenn (Cumberland, RI): Steve, whatever happened to the Coco to the Mets talk? Is that completely dead? Would it make sense from your perspective?

SportsNation Steve Phillips: The Mets don’t have much to trade, and the Red Sox aren’t giving Coco away, as the FA class is not very strong this upcoming offseason. Unless the Mets ante up for Crisp, I don’t suspect a deal gets done. I think the Mets can hold tight for now in the outfield, as they have more significant issues, with the health of their starting rotation. What the Mets really need is for Jose Reyes to get things going.

    that’s all we need Jerry

SportsNation Jerry Crasnick: Kevin, I think the operational phrase is “back of the rotation filler.”

“hellacious slider” and he’s talking about pelfrey! LOL

Scoot (Syracuse): Jerry, Mike Perfrey–5th starter 4 the Mets?

SportsNation Jerry Crasnick: Scoot, I don’t see why not. Pelfrey has a fine sinker, and for all the talk about his lack of a breaking ball, I saw him throw a hellacious slider or two last night against the Phillies. If I’m the Mets, I’d keep running him out there with the anticipation that he’s only going to get better.

SportsNation Jerry Crasnick: Lucas, I’m not sure about Rickey Henderson just yet, but Gomez can fly and he has a terrific arm. He’s a lot of fun to watch, and if the Twins have the patience to give him 550 at-bats for a couple of years, they might really have something special on their hands.

ha! i got the last question in! eidebeles likes us (but doesn’t pick us)…

brian custer mishawaka indiana: irish showing lots of confidence and the goal drought seems to be finally broken. do you think notre dame can make the finals?

Mike Eidelbes: (5:58 PM ET ) There are two things I like about the Irish. One is that they literally have nothing to lose, so they’ll be the loosest team here. There’s been a history of the most relaxed team winning this thing in recent years (Denver, Wisconsin, Michigan State)

Mike Eidelbes: (5:59 PM ET ) The second is Jeff Jackson. He’s been through this before, and he’ll have his team ready to play. I think it’ll be a great game.

Mike Eidelbes: (6:00 PM ET ) OK … we’re about four minutes from faceoff here in Denver. This is going to be a great couple of days. I’m taking BC in game 1 and Michigan in OT in game 2. See you 1 hour prior to Saturday’s faceoff!
