This Monday, sometime in the evening we will be performing a site upgrade. Most of the changes will be invisible to you, but there are a few that will affect everyone.
For starters, user registration will now be required in order to post comments on the site. There was much deliberation before this decision was reached, but we feel it will be in the long-term interest of the site and its users to go with this new format. Apologies in advance to the trolls.
Second, with the upgrade comes a new way for users to interact with the site. Previously, your contributions were limited to what you could fit in a comment. Now, all users will have access to a new feature we like to call Journals. Journals are your canvass for posting your thoughts, analyses, links, etc. The most recent journals will appear in the right sidebar. Journals that the site admins find particularly interesting or well-crafted may be promoted to appear on the main page. Too, registered users will be able to rate others’ journals, the best of which will appear in a separate box on the right sidebar. This will serve to highlight the best contributions from the MetsGeek community.
In order to implement these upgrades, the site will be unavailable for a period of time on Monday. It’s a good day for the upgrade because it’s a holiday and there is no Mets game, so the interruption in service should be less noticeable.
Anyway, just a “heads up” so nobody freaks out when the site is unavailable. Thanks,
–Eric
UPDATE
The site upgrade is complete. Some things have moved around a bit (polls and features from the right to the left sidebar), some things are gone entirely (author links, category links), and some new things are available (highest rated journals, new journals, advanced search). So have a look around, sign up for an account, and let us know if you run into any problems. Enjoy!
The Humongus, The Warrior of the Wasteland?
jessica most people are over in the link dump
Me. Lived in NY for a few years, became a Mets fan. Now living in NZ, though coming back to New York in 2 weeks time!
Wow Bah thats awesome. We have Geeks all the way in New Zealand. Glad to have you aboard, man. Maybe we can get together for a game when you come to new york.
yea but he also didnt record a single strikeout, so its starting to sound a little more like him ;-)
all we needed to do was pitch trachsel against the royals..thats the secret
Test post.
Leo Mazzone strikes again.
Jessica: I seem to be having similar problems. The box score that appeared on my screen says he pitched 9 innings, struck out zero, and gave up on 5 hits. How does he do it?

What’s wrong with this picture. Trax has a low era, but barely a winning record, Heilman is just two wins off the NL wins leader, tied for twelfth, after blowing saves to get wins. The universe is cockeyed.
Heilman plays for a good team, Timetrax plays for… the Orioles.
Checking in
The email monster ate my original password email. But I retried and I’m all good now.
Nice idea metswin. But I’m not going to be able to get to a game. Coming to NYC to get married at City Hall and although my bride to be is a mets fan too, we won’t be able to get to Shea. Next time, in the 2008 season! We’re going to Chicago on our way to NYC - her family is from there. We’re going to see the White Sox mash the Yankees - a righteous experience - but that’ll be our one baseball stadium experience while we’re here this time.
i vote no to having journal entries on in the rss feed unless they are promoted to the front page.
Testing one. two. three.
Seems to be working.
Since you are making changes to the site, will you be able to get a chance to update the “Mets Roster Geneology”. That happens to be one of my favorite links on this site.
anyone just see the hot girl behind third?
