thanks chris and rich.
It would suck to not get this game in. No way they would replay it unless the cards end up in a tie. you know the organization needs the money.
who was cut? Ledee?
LOL! Yes, trachsel is a real pitching master. He keeps his teams into games with 5.5 IP with his offense scoring in droves. How hard he must work!
The truth is that you couldn’t sound more like Wrdwrkr if you were both reading out of the same book. Have you two been collaborating together or something because you both share the same rediculous talking points.
El Duque and maine are better pitchers and personally I would like to see what perez and bannister could do in his spot in the rotation once this staff gets healthy. Now that I and many others have whoopped your booty in this debate I will await the usual personal slander attempt on my character. LOL!
Bannister is on WFAN right now. Says he’s starting tomorrow against Philly.
Without anyone jumping all over me….could we all agree that whether or not we like Trax, he has karma going for him at the moment. Why don’t we ride the karma until it runs out and just enjoy it. We can argue until the cows come home, but the truth is Willie and Omar don’t give a damn what we think. They’ll make the decisons. What is the point of all of this…..?
The karma argument is one that cannot be proven so I am not sure how to engage with it. However, it does bear noting that karma is about balance and that good karma is always followed by bad karma. I don’t know how long Trachsel can keep his balancing act up. But in the playoffs, one cannot expect to recieve the same run support that Trachsel has received in games against the Nationals, ChiCubs, and Pirates.
I’ve been lurking on these boards for a while, and this is the first time I’m posting.
I’d just like to say that while I think at this stage of his career, Trachsel is not a good pitcher anymore, the level of negativity about a non-Lima player really brings the board down. Why is there a need to throw any Met under the bus like that? It seems the more Trachsel wins the more there are some to decry that he sucks and is just lucky. Just about everybody here knows that he’s lucky, why not just be glad we’re enjoying the benefits of that luck?
That being said, i’ll go back to my anonymity.
I wil answer your question truthfully…
The reason we continue to debate Trachsel’s suckitude is because there is a serious discussion being had about his prospects as a 3rd or 4th starter in the playoffs. Now, many who here have not argued that Trachsel is lucky or just bad, they argue that Trachsel has pitched like an “ace” this season and has been stellar in 2006 with 13 wins. Obviously, there is a large disconnect here between the minority of fans who laud Trachsel and the rest who cannot stand his performance this season and see the handwriting on the wall. This discussion, however nasty is has become at times, is an attempt to flesh these issues out….thus the reason for having a Mets oriented blog to air out such points in the first place.
Whos said he has pitched like an ace Ra-moan? I didnt. Thats what I mean aboutt twisting words around. Its like kindergarten with you. You are so one-track mind. Do u even read other posts or just glance at them? I never said he pitched like an zce, I just said he was better then el duque at this point. Weaker teams? thats your comeback? Um so the mets purposely hold him back so he wont have to pitch against the good teams right? You amuse me dude. And you just cant leave it alone either. You cant drop it can you? Its like if someone called you a rascist word or something. You need to get out more dude. Lifes not all about hating on a pitcher.
Ramon, I appreciate the response.
It seems to me that the few people who think Trachsel have pitched like an “ace” is in the *vast* minority. Yet you and others continually lump *any* Trachsel support under the same umbrella. It seems that’s what tends to make things ugly. I don’t mean to point you out as a negative, I only do so because of your self-appointed inquisitor status. :)
I do appreciate the discussion of Trachsel vs. Maine vs. El Duque for the playoffs, when it stays on topic. In fairness to you, you do often contribute quite a bit to that discussion. However the discourse has gotten more and more bitter, particularly since you took up your “Inquisitor” title.
FWIW, I would rather see Maine at the #3 in the playoffs, and El Duque #4, but I wouldn’t be too torn up if it was Trax.
Thats a fair point. Heck, if el duque pitched great from here on out, you have to put him ahead of traschel than. Its open auditions, Im not saying oh traschel must start, just at this point in time it would only be fair until someone proves worthy. Ra-moan just keeps putting a twist on things like im some huge traschel supporter that I would pick him over anybody no matter what. Its not the case. I happen to feel bad for the guy, yes. Hes at the tail end of his career, hes got a bad back, he has seem to lost his control real bad, which was never great to begin with. I would just once like to here something positive about the dude, I mean jeez, start after start, its getting pathetic. And since hes added that to his name hes become even more of a hater. Like hes proud of it, to me its just very counter productive.
I usually lurk (mainly because I rarely have control of the computer during an entire game, so tend to join the discussion early or late. But I’ve been reading and enjoying this blog all season for the most part. Having said that, I think the “Inquisition” stuff may have been moderately amusing at first, but now is simply annoying. Nobody is claiming that Trachsel is any kind of “ace”; even his proponents only view him as a 3, 4 or 5. Furthermore, the discussion is, imo, completely pointless. Unless Trachsel starts pitching far worse than he is doing right now, he’s going to be the fourth starter in the playoffs. Why? /1/ Willie respects his veterans and feels rookies have to earn their stripes. /2/ Trachsel can’t pitch out of the bullpen, and Maine can. And Trachsel is NOT going to be left off the post-season roster, no matter how much certain people might prefer it, because *you go with the ones that got you there*. So no matter how much some may bewail and bemoan it, Trachsel is going to be the fourth starter in the playoffs.
Which may not be a bad thing. Trachsel is annoying to watch, and he pitches to the score way too often, unfortunately, but that means that he may come up big in a close game. He wins a lot of games 7-5 or 8-6, but I don’t recall him losing too many games 6-0 or 6-2. When he loses, most of the time it’s been 1-0 or 2-1 or 4-2. As others have said, he keeps us in games.
Suppose there is a choice between starting Trax or El Duque in the playoffs and if we get that far the WS. Who would I choose? Trax for the most part has alternated between mediocre + in his good games and mediocre – in his bad games. El Duque has gone from total disaster to being brilliant. So who do I select?
In the past El Duque has shown that he rises to the occasion for big games and has good post season experience. As far as I’m concerned the choice is El Duque with no hesitation. You might be able to get away with Trax against a NL team in the playoffs and win 8-6 but if we make it to the WS Trax will be destroyed.
Holy Crap I know it’s late but I just got in from work and this little doozie almost slipped past me……. totally awesome
